28 April – International law firm, DLA has been ranked 10 in the 50 Best Workplaces in the UK and listed in the 100 Best Workplaces in the EU in the latest workplace study of top employers in the UK. The survey, conducted by Accountability and Great Place to Work®, is now in its second year and was published by the Financial Times on Wednesday 28 April.
DLA is the highest ranked law firm in the list and ahead of household names such as Marks and Spencer. Last month, The Sunday Times workplace survey also confirmed DLA’s place amongst top employers when it ranked DLA in the top 50, for the fourth year running.

The Best Workplaces UK list includes the great and the good from a number of industries, including What If! Ltd, the innovation consultancy which topped the list at number one, and others such as Asda, Microsoft and Procter and Gamble, which also made the top ten listing.
The survey is the result of extensive research into the workplace practices of companies with 50 employees or more. Part of the research required participating companies to complete a detailed audit about workplace practices, philosophy and work environment. Between 50 and 250 employees from each participating company were also randomly selected to complete an employee attitude survey, which forms a key part of the research.

DLA is one of Europe’s top ten law firms and has a huge UK presence. It is committed to being the “firm of choice” in each of the jurisdictions where it has offices and has created a work environment which is enjoyable and fun as well as productive. Employees benefit from a broad reward package which is linked to the firm’s core values and takes into consideration the work/life balance and commitment to DLA.

Benefits include the opportunity to increase annual leave with the length of service, flexible working, a concierge service, private medical scheme and pension scheme. Employees are also actively encouraged to become better corporate citizens. Last year a firm-wide challenge to walk from John o’Groats to Land’s End was launched by Managing Partner, Nigel Knowles to raise money for the medical research charity for children, Wellchild. Employees from all DLA’s offices took part and succeeded in raising over £500,000.
Robert Halton, Director of Human Resources said:

“I am once again delighted that we feature so highly in the Best Workplaces in the UK survey. DLA is fully committed to supporting all its people through the firm’s core values. This has business benefits but more importantly it benefits our people, who are the most valuable asset the business has.”
