4 June LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – Linklaters announces the appointment of Jeff Norton, a leading US banking partner, to its New York office. Jeff, who joins Linklaters from the New York office of O’Melveny & Myers LLP, is a recognised market leader in the field of leveraged finance. He specialises in senior loan and high yield debt transactions, acquisition finance, media and telecoms finance, asset-based finance, work-outs and debt restructurings and exchanges.
Jeff’s election follows the hire of US banking partner Michael Bassett, who joined Linklaters in January 2005, and further builds on the development of Linklaters’ domestic US banking practice. The appointment will help to extend the firm’s leading international banking and capital markets capabilities further in the US market.
Jeff is the sixth high profile US partner to join Linklaters in New York in the last nine months. In addition to Michael Bassett, his election follows the appointments of Mark Palmer, who joined Linklaters from Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP in August 2004, Adam Glass and Gary Barnett, who joined from Sidley Austin Brown & Wood LLP in August 2004 and Shearman & Sterling LLP in September 2004 respectively and Scott Bowie, formerly of Latham & Watkins LLP, who joined Linklaters in February 2005.
John Tucker, Linklaters global head of banking, said:
“We are extremely pleased that Jeff is joining us. His appointment enables us to expand the capabilities of our New York banking practice for the benefit of our global practice.”
Paul Wickes, Linklaters US managing partner, said:
“We are expanding our domestic US banking practice in response to client demand. Jeff is an excellent addition to our team, and his election to the partnership represents a further significant step in the building of a powerful US presence for Linklaters.”
