8 June – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – Linklaters has elected Sebastián Albella as a partner in its growing Madrid office. His appointment represents a key step in the Madrid office’s ability to meet client demand in Spain, as well as international work flowing in and out of the region.
Sebastián joins Linklaters from Ramón & Cajal (Albella, Pala y Ramón & Cajal) where he was one of its founding partners. He is regarded as the one of the leading corporate lawyers in Spain and advised on three of the four IPOs that took place in Spain last year. He will be joined by two of his senior associates, Pilar Lluesma and Ramón Ruiz de la Torre.
Sebastián was an “Abogado del Estado”* for a number of years and from 1988-91 was head of the legal department of the Spanish Securities and Exchange Commission. While working as an “Abogado del Estado” he was involved in the drafting of the current Spanish Securities Market Act and also the current Banking Act, giving him unique experience in the securities markets.
