London – LAWFUEL – UK Law News Daily – DLA Piper has advised GNER in completing its negotiations for the implementation of a new Electronic Point of Sale (EPOS) system for its train fleet. The new system, including the rollout of new handheld till devices and the implementation of back office systems, will be prototyped this autumn prior to an anticipated roll out on the East Coast Mainline next year. The new system will interface with GNER’s accounting and supply chain systems and ultimately link on a real time basis with GNER’s stock control processes.

Kit Burden, a partner in DLA Piper’s Technology, Media & Communications practice, led the DLA Piper team, working closely with Dave Edwards and Tim Kavanagh of GNER’s procurement and finance functions. Kit commented: “It was a pleasure to work with GNER in bringing this project to fruition. Hopefully it will be a basis for both improved services and revenues for GNER going forward.”

David Edwards, head of procurement for GNER, said: “The expertise and advise that DLA Piper brought to this project has been excellent. It was dealt with in a very professional and justified manner. The response and service was commendable, with first class client care no doubt leading to a long term partnership between DLA Piper and GNER”.
