ATLANTA (August 15) – LAWFUEL – The Legal Newswire – Kilpatrick Stockton announced today that litigation attorney Cal Cunningham has been re-appointed for a second four-year term on the Board of Trustees of Davidson County Community College. Governor Michael Easley reappointed Mr. Cunningham to serve on the College’s primary governing board based on his diligent and effective service in moving North Carolina forward. During his four-year tenure, Mr. Cunningham will continue to serve as the College’s ethics liaison with the North Carolina State Ethics Commission, established in 2006 to enforce higher standards of disclosure and accountability for state government officials.
Mr. Cunningham’s legal practice at Kilpatrick Stockton focuses on conflict resolution and litigation in complex business disputes, including construction, real estate, environmental and contract cases.
Prior to joining Kilpatrick Stockton, Mr. Cunningham served in the state Senate. While Senator, he served as on the Education/Higher Education Appropriations, Oversight and Policy committees. He was responsible for pushing smaller class sizes, higher teacher pay, character education, farmland preservation, clean air legislation and tax breaks on earned income. He currently serves as a Captain in the U.S. Army Reserve Judge Advocate General’s Corps. He received both his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a masters degree from the London School of Economics.
