December 16, 2004 (MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA). Symantec (Nasdaq:SYMC) and VERITAS Software (Nasdaq:VRTS) announced their agreement to merge, in an historic transaction valued at over $13.5 billion. This transaction would be the largest technology merger since HP/Compaq and the largest software industry merger ever.
