(Baton Rouge, LA) LAWFUEL – James R. Austin, partner in charge of the Baton Rouge office of the regional law firm of Adams and Reese LLP, has been named to the Board of Directors of the Baton Rouge Area Chamber of Commerce (BRAC).

Austin is a member of the Banking and Finance and Real Estate Practice Teams in the Transactions and Corporate Advisory Services Practice Group of Adams and Reese. He has nearly 30 years of outside and in-house commercial legal experience focusing on all aspects of lending law, debtor/creditor relations and contract law. He is AV-Rated by Martindale-Hubbell.
In addition, Austin is a member of numerous community and professional organizations including the Baton Rouge and Louisiana Bar Associations, the Louisiana State Law Institute UCC Committee, and the Louisiana Bankers Association Bank Counsel Committee of which he is a former Chairman. He is also an assistant bar examiner. In the community, Austin is a former member of the Baton Rouge Rotary Club and a past President and Board Member of the Baton Rouge Symphony.
Austin received his Juris Doctor degree from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center of Louisiana State University in 1978, and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Management from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1975. He is admitted to practice law in all state courts in Louisiana, as well as U.S. District Courts for the Western, Middle and Eastern Districts, and the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
