Amsterdam – 5 May – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – DLA SchutGrosheide, DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary’s (“DLA Piper”) Dutch practice, is pleased to announce that it has appointed Richard Fens as a partner in its corporate practice. Richard worked for Dutch firm, Kennedy Van der Laan as head of the corporate law group prior to joining DLA SchutGrosheide. His expertise covers all aspect of corporate law however he specialises in international mergers and acquisitions, private equity, joint ventures, financing and securities law. Richard also advises regularly on corporate governance matters.
Richard started his career in 1990 at Loeff Claeys Verbeke in Amsterdam and was later relocated to Singapore in 1995 as off shore counsel, where he focused on overseeing investment projects. In 1998 Richard was made head of the Singapore office and the following year he left to join Kennedy Van der Laan and headed its corporate group for four years. Richard’s work in Asia gave him considerable experience in project finance, reorganisations and banking and securities finance, which will be helpful in his new role at DLA SchutGrosheide where he will spearhead international corporate finance advice to clients in the Netherlands.
In addition to this Richard is a lecturer at OSR Juridische Opleidingen in Utrecht, Holland, which offers post-graduate courses in law and he is also an advisor to the institute. Richard is an active member of the International Bar Association, the Inter Pacific Bar Association and he collaborates regularly with the Corporate Governance Institute in Indonesia.
He officially joined on 1 May 2005 and will be based in the Amsterdam office.
