DALLAS (LAWFUEL) – Andrews Kurth LLP attorney Kathleen J. Wu is one of only 30 women profiled in the 2008 listing of Extraordinary Women in Texas Law, a special publication from Texas Lawyer newspaper.

In the Extraordinary Women introduction, Texas Lawyer’s editor-in-chief says the attorneys featured in the publication “lead in good times and in bad; achieve results or put everything on the line trying; and influence and shape the legal debate in our state.”
To compile the special publication, the Texas Lawyer editorial staff reviewed the more than 500 nominations sent in by readers. The 30 honorees were selected based on their contributions to law firms, government agencies, non-profits, businesses and educational institutions.

The profile of Wu highlights her efforts to “help women lawyers and lawyers of color earn professional equality, opportunity and respect.” A member of the firm’s Policy Committee, Wu previously served as the Managing Partner for Andrews Kurth’s Dallas office. She also is a driving force behind many of the firm’s diversity initiatives, including the Women’s Initiative Team and the firm’s biennial Executive Women’s Retreat.
This marks just the latest honor for Wu, who was highlighted in the Dallas Business Journal’s 2008 listing of Dallas/Fort Worth’s Most Influential Women and Texas Diversity’s 2008 listing of Texas’ Most Powerful and Influential Women. Wu also is routinely recognized in “Top Lawyer” listings in publications such as Texas Lawyer, Texas Monthly and D Magazine. She has earned numerous honors for her community and professional service, including the Justice David Wellington Chew Award from the Asian Pacific Interest Section of the State Bar of Texas, the Louise B. Raggio Award from the Dallas Women Lawyers Association and the “Women of Spirit” award from the American Jewish Congress Southwest Region.
