TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – LawFuel.com – Florida Law News – One in six teens in the United States has taken medicineto get high, and medicines are the most commonly abused drugs among 12- to13-year-olds. Attorney General Bondi is joining The Partnership atDrugfree.org’s national campaign, The Medicine Abuse Project, in its goal
to prevent half a million teens from abusing medicine within five years.
“The Medicine Abuse Project is a national campaign intended to stop
teenage medicine abuse,” stated Attorney General Pam Bondi. “I encourage
everyone to take the first step in protecting teens from medicine abuse by signing the pledge at MedicineAbuseProject.org today.”
“The majority of teens who abuse medicines get them from family and
friends,” said Steve Pasierb, President and CEO of The Partnership for
Drugfree.org. “We need to change that. With the support of partners like
Attorney General Bondi, physicians, parents and teens themselves will be
more aware of the dangers of medicine abuse.”
The launch of The Medicine Abuse Project, which is from Sept. 24 to Sept.
29, will culminate with the Drug Enforcement Administration’s National
Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, Sept. 29. Cleaning out
