PHILADELPHIA, PA (December 15, 2009) – LawFuel.com – Attorneys News – McCarter & English attorney Kari B. Samuels was appointed Secretary of the Philadelphia Bar Association’s State Civil Litigation Section for 2010. The purpose of the Section is to promote the objectives of the Philadelphia Bar Association within the field of state civil litigation and to advance the development of the law and the continuing education of the Philadelphia bar within that field in all its branches. The Section also suggests improvements in applicable laws, practices and procedures. It also works to simplify and improve the application of justice in this field in conformity with the Charter and Bylaws of the Philadelphia Bar Association. The appointment term is one year. Ms. Samuels had previously served as Treasurer of the Section in 2009.

Ms. Samuels concentrates her practice in the areas of products liability and mass tort litigation defense. Her cases range from industrial equipment accidents to pharmaceutical and medical device claims and occupational exposure litigation. She has successfully represented clients in both state and federal courts in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Texas and in multi-district litigation based on the laws of other jurisdictions, including Illinois, New York and Germany.
In addition, Ms. Samuels formerly served as a law clerk for three judges in the Philadelphia Motions Court, a unique division of the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas which determines all non-discovery motions in non-major jury trial cases and hears appeals from administrative agencies such as the Zoning Board of Adjustment and the Liquor Control Board.
