20 April – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – Jones Day led all law firms in league tables based on number of deals worldwide in the first three months of 2005, a position it has held for 18 consecutive quarters. The Firm placed second based on worldwide transaction value for representation of principals in announced deals.

Jones Day took the lead in all Thomson Financial’s first quarter league tables based on number of deals, with 114 completed transactions worldwide (64 more than the two firms tied for second place), and 52 completed deals with U.S. targets.

In the Bloomberg rankings, which are based on announced deals, Jones Day was #1 for number of deals worldwide, in the U.S., and in Europe. Looking just at cross-border M&A, in which the Firm has long been prominent, Bloomberg confirmed that Jones Day advised on more deals than any other firm in the quarter.

The $89.2 billion in announced global transactions in which the Firm represented a principal was second only to Sullivan & Cromwell’s in the first three months, according to Bloomberg. On league tables based on value of announced deals in the U.S., Jones Day ranked #3.

In rankings recently published by Corporate Control Alert for 2004, Jones Day was fifth most frequent representative of principals in $100 million-plus deals involving at least one U.S. company.
