21 April – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – Linklaters has advised four mandated lead arrangers (ABN AMRO, Citigroup, Deutsche and JPMorgan) and a syndicate of 37 other banks on a US$650 million three-year facility for Gazprombank. This is the largest ever loan made to a Russian bank. The facility agreement was signed in a ceremony at the Kremlin on Friday 15 April.
The facility amount was $200m higher than the previous record for a Russian bank (a record which was itself set just a week before the Gazprombank facility was signed).
The Linklaters team was Mark Kirsh, Elena Perepelkina and Mark Russell. All three are based in Linklaters’ Moscow office.
Mark Kirsh commented:
“We are delighted to have provided English and Russian law advice on the largest ever loan to a Russian bank to this group of leading banks. We were very pleased to have brought this transaction to a close not just for our lender clients but also for Gazprombank – a top Russian bank with an excellent and professional team of finance specialists.”
White & Case advised Gazprombank.
