22 November 2004 – LAWFUEL – Legal, law, attorney news – DLA is expanding its full service offering in Birmingham with the recruitment of top IP lawyer Marie McMorrow as partner. She will join the firm on 6 December 2004.

Marie will join DLA from the Birmingham office of Pinsents where she is partner and head of the IP group; she also heads up the firm’s automotive group. Marie is a highly experienced commercial and technology lawyer, handling both contentious and non contentious matters; Legal 500 says she is held in high esteem for her commercial approach.

Marie qualified as a solicitor in 1989 at Wragge & Co where she worked for 6 years; her principal transactions and cases include advising Avon Cosmetics on trade mark and design issues, advising Unomedical in a dispute regarding technology licences and related supply agreements and advising IMI on global licensing.
Accompanying Marie will be senior associate Colin Leech an experienced specialist IP litigator. The appointments reflect DLA’s strategy to become one of the leading IP practices in Birmingham.

Jeremy Dickerson, head of DLA’s IP team says: “There are very few individuals working in Birmingham firms that have the combination of a client following, strong business development and practice building skills as well as strong technical skills. Marie is one of the very few that fulfils that criteria and we are delighted to have recruited someone of her calibre to the firm.
“We are confident, that along with Colin, another talented IP litigator, Marie will help position the team as one the leading IP practices in Birmingham.”

British MP George Galloway and his opponent the Daily Telegraph will leave no stone unturned to sort out what could be a spectacular libel case.
