23 June – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – Eversheds has announced its association with leading German firm HEISSE KURSAWE. The agreement is a major step in the continuing development of Eversheds’ international capability and establishes the firm in the key market of Germany. The firm will continue to be named HEISSE KURSAWE, but will adopt the logo and style of Eversheds International, a group of independent law firms.

HEISSE KURSAWE, based in Munich, Bavaria, is a highly respected business law firm with an established reputation. It is recognised for its work in corporate and commercial law, M&A, banking and finance, employment law, regulatory and competition law and real estate, and has a well established presence in the important ‘Mittelstand’ market. It is also recognised for its work in the banking and finance sector, as well as the healthcare industry and media.

The firm has 11 partners and nearly 40 lawyers. Clients include multinational companies ranging from banks, entertainment and technology companies to real estate investors and developers such as Burger King, Bayerische HypoVereinsbank, Munich Re, Expedia.de, Bovis Lend Lease, NBC Universal Studios and ProSiebenSAT1 Media.

The association will significantly increase the legal resources available to clients of all firms of Eversheds International. Heisse Kursawe will work with Eversheds’ existing German Business Group, which has successfully provided UK and German legal advice to clients from these respective countries over the past years and will continue to play an important role in building up the relationship between the two firms.

Alan Jenkins, Eversheds’ Chairman said: “It is with great enthusiasm that we welcome HEISSE KURSAWE to Eversheds International. Germany is the country of the European Union with the largest economy and a magnet for clients from around the world, especially those from the USA building European businesses. We have enjoyed working with Heisse Kursawe. Our clients have been full of compliments about their straightforward and commercial approach, combined with the high quality of service provided. All of us in Eversheds International are looking forward to developing our relationship with Heisse Kursawe and building the deepest level of operational integration between both our firms for the benefit of our mutual clients.”

Managing Partner of HEISSE KURSAWE, Matthias Heisse said: “We are delighted to become the German member of Eversheds International. The colleagues from the various firms in the network have excellent expertise in our clients’ business areas. Working with Eversheds has always been a great pleasure; efficient and successful. We look forward to supporting Eversheds clients in Germany with our local market knowledge as part of an integrated European legal service.”

The two firms have also announced today, the completion of a deal that they have been working on jointly, advising on a $25m cross-border Stanelco acquisition of German company Biotec Holding GmbH.
