24 January 2005 – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – Norton Rose, the international law firm, has advised Dubai based Abraaj Capital on the US$55.1million acquisition of 80% of the issued share capital of Jordan Aircraft Maintenance Company (JorAMCo) from the Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan following a competitive privatisation bid process.

Norton Rose also advised Abraaj on the terms of a shareholders’ agreement entered into with 20% shareholder, Royal Jordanian Airlines, also owned by the Jordanian Government.

The Norton Rose team was led by senior associate Zubair Mir with responsible partner Graeme Muir. The Dubai based corporate team also included senior associate Natasha Mir, associates Alexandra Beidas and Helena Warren and trainee Sarah Aziz.

Specific privatisation expertise was provided by Campbell Steedman in Frankfurt and aviation expertise was provided by Owen Mulholland in London. Yu-En Ong in London advised on the related acquisition finance. Construction advice was provided by Martin Lucas in Dubai.

British MP George Galloway and his opponent the Daily Telegraph will leave no stone unturned to sort out what could be a spectacular libel case.
