24 May – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – Herbert Smith has been named as Western Europe: projects/energy law firm of the year by leading international legal publisher Chambers & Partners.
The award was presented at the annual Chambers Global awards ceremony in London on 19 May.
Herbert Smith’s practice was described by Chambers as “offering the full spectrum of corporate, financing, regulatory and disputes advice on European energy and projects matters.”
Chambers singled out the firm’s work for Sumitomo on the $4.5 billion Rabigh petrochemical complex, and for the DTI on the establishment of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority to manage the UK’s £48 billion nuclear clean-up.
The Chambers Global awards are based on year-round research carried out by a 50-strong team in London. Shortlists were drawn up by the editors, and the winners chosen by a panel of judges from in-house positions at major corporations.
Paul Griffin, head of Herbert Smith’s global energy group, commented:
“Herbert Smith is honoured to have had its international energy and projects practice publicly endorsed by such a respected commentator.”
