28 October 2004 LAWFUEL – Law, legal, attorney, law firm news Law firm DLA LLP is strengthening its financial regulatory team with the appointment of Eva Heffernan as partner.
Eva, who joins from Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering will work closely with head of financial regulation Peter Bibby and partner Helen Marshall. She will take a key role in the development of the group.
Previously, Eva was at Merrill Lynch Europe where she was director and senior counsel overseeing regulatory investigations by the Financial Services Authority (FSA), Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) and regulators in all jurisdictions for both private client and capital markets groups.
Eva has more than 20 years of regulatory and litigation experience and formerly worked as a trial lawyer with the U.S. Department of Justice. She also has significant experience of working on insider trading, market manipulation and related supervision issues.
During her career Eva has also worked at the U.S SEC’s Division of Enforcement. She supervised investigations into violation of the federal securities laws, institution of related civil enforcement litigation in the Federal Court and in administrative proceedings by the Commission.
DLA’s Financial Regulatory Group has seen significant growth in its contentious and non-contentious work over the past two years and Eva’s arrival takes the number of specialist lawyers to 17. Both Peter Bibby and Helen Marshall were previously heads of department in the Enforcement Division at the FSA.
