31st January 2005 – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – Hong Kong -Jones Day’s Asia Pacific lending / structured finance team has recently received a number of accolades, including being named “Best Law Firm” by ThorABS in their 2004 Securitization league tables. ThorABS is a leading information and resources guide for the European and Asian asset-backed markets, covering ABS, MBS, and CMBS securitization, principal finance, repackaging, commercial paper conduits, arbitrage programmes, CBOs/CLOs and structured derivatives.

In addition, the firm recently received recognition for its work representing Ambac Assurance Corporation, as guarantor, on the issuance by Korea First Mortgage No.3 PLC of Euro 550 million Guaranteed Secured Floating Rate Notes due 2036, originated by Korea First Bank on a pool of residential mortgage loans in Korea. The deal was recently named “Best Cross-Border Securitization Deal” for 2004 at the FinanceAsia Achievement Awards. The transaction was both the largest-ever (in terms of deal size) and the longest-ever (in terms of legal maturity) cross-border securitization out of Korea to date.

British MP George Galloway and his opponent the Daily Telegraph will leave no stone unturned to sort out what could be a spectacular libel case.
