4 June – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – Linklaters has elected Martijn Koopal as a partner in its banking practice in The Netherlands. His appointment represents a key further step in the development of Linklaters’ Dutch law capability.

Martijn will join Linklaters from DLA SchutGrosheide in Amsterdam, where he is currently head of the Banking & Finance practice. He specialises in banking and finance transactions, and is experienced in advising banks and companies on domestic and cross-border finance transactions.

Richard Levy, partner in Linklaters’ Amsterdam office, said:

“Martijn’s election, which follows the recent appointment of corporate partner Pieter Riemer, demonstrates our continuing commitment to the development of Dutch law capability in all key areas. His broad-based expertise in advising Dutch and international banks and corporates on banking transactions will significantly enhance our capability in The Netherlands, and is a response to client demand in that area. We are delighted that he is joining us.”

John Tucker, global head of Linklaters’ banking practice, added:

“We are very excited that Martijn is joining our global banking practice. His appointment underlines our strategy of providing premium cross-border and local law advice to our clients in key jurisdictions. Martijn is the eighth partner to be elected to our global banking practice in the past 12 months.”

British MP George Galloway and his opponent the Daily Telegraph will leave no stone unturned to sort out what could be a spectacular libel case.
