ATLANTA, May 14 – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network — Powell Goldstein LLP announced today that Gerald L. Blanchard has joined the Firm’s Atlanta office as a partner.
Mr. Blanchard is a national expert on all aspects of commercial and
financial banking. Prior to joining Powell Goldstein, Mr. Blanchard served as
in-house counsel to Bank of America Corp., where he worked for 25 years.

A noted writer and speaker, Mr. Blanchard presents his views regularly at
leading banking seminars and conferences. One of his publications, “Lender
Liability: Law, Practice & Prevention,” has become the banking industry’s
seminal treatise on lending liability. This guide is updated annually.

Mr. Blanchard is involved in numerous pro bono activities in the community
and serves on the board of the State Bar of Georgia’s Business Commitment
Committee. He is also a past president of the Georgia Chapter of the
Association of Corporate Counsel – America and a board member of the Corporate
Counsel section of the Atlanta Bar Association.
Mr. Blanchard received his B.A. from Berry College in Rome, Ga., and his
J.D. from Emory University Law School in 1978. He clerked in the U.S.
Bankruptcy Court in Atlanta for Judge William L. Norton Jr. before starting
his career with Citizens & Southern National Bank, which eventually became
Bank of America. Mr. Blanchard is a member of the State Bar of Georgia and the
Atlanta Bar Association.
