ATLANTA, Nov. 21 – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network — The Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA) has named McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP’s Luis A. Aguilar its Lawyer of the Year for 2005.

Mr. Aguilar was selected by a special review committee that considered
numerous candidates.

“After a highly competitive process, Luis emerged as a terrific choice by
the executive committee of the HNBA. He is one of the most highly regarded
corporate attorneys in the country. He has a unique ability to very
skillfully connect corporate law and business development with issues that are
critical to the progress of Hispanic Americans,” said Alan Varela, President
of the HNBA. “We are very pleased to select him as HNBA’s 2005 Lawyer of the
Year.”

The HNBA was founded in 1972 and is an incorporated, non-profit, national
association representing the interest of over 25,000 Hispanic American
attorneys, judges, law professors, and law students in the United States and
Puerto Rico.

Mr. Aguilar is a partner in McKenna Long & Aldridge’s corporate practice
in Atlanta, where he focuses on corporate governance, corporate finance and
securities and international transactions.

“This is such an exciting time for the Latino community in our nation.
Our diversity, contributions and prominence have never been stronger and to be
selected for this honor alongside my legal peers is very humbling, indeed,”
said Mr. Aguilar. “As more Hispanics enter the legal profession, I am

Over the last year, Mr. Aguilar has been recognized as one of Georgia’s
Super Lawyers 2004, as published in Atlanta Magazine and Georgia Super
Lawyers, March 2004. He is also on the list of the Georgia Super Lawyers 2005
and is listed in the 2005-06 edition of The Best Lawyers in America. Recently,
the Atlanta Business Chronicle listed him among the Who’s Who in Atlanta’s
legal community.

Mr. Aguilar’s civic affiliations demonstrate his passion to serve
different causes. He is active with many prominent organizations. Most
notably, he has been very active with the Latin American Association (LAA),
where he started a two-year term as Chair in April 2005. The LAA has long been
recognized as the preeminent local organization for Hispanic issues in
Georgia. Luis is also on the Boards of several leading non-profit
organization: Georgia Hispanic Bar Association, Girl Scouts North West
Council (one of the largest councils in the U.S.), GALEO (Georgia Association
of Latino Elected Officials), UNICEF S.E., Leadership Atlanta, and CIFAL
Atlanta, Inc., a public-private partnership between the United Nations and the
City of Atlanta, and 1 of only 11 in the world and the only such center in
North America.

Recently Mr. Aguilar received MALDEF’s “Excellence in Leadership Award” in
April 2005, and the 2005 Member of the Year Award by the Georgia Hispanic
Chamber of Commerce. He is a graduate of the University of Georgia School of
Law and holds a master of laws degree in taxation from Emory University.
