AUSTIN, Tex. – LAWFUEL – Law News Network – The national law firm of Fish & Richardson is announcing the addition of an experienced group of attorneys in the firm’s Austin office and the relocation of a Dallas principal. The nine new attorneys in Fish & Richardson’s Austin office create one of the capital city’s top corporate transactional practices and add additional depth locally to Fish & Richardson’s nationally recognized intellectual property practice. Eight of the attorneys joining Fish & Richardson previously were with the Austin office of Andrews Kurth.

“The addition of these attorneys brings a wealth of experience and excellent clients to our firm,” says Alan D Albright, Managing Principal of the firm’s Austin office. “In the course of one day, Fish & Richardson has become one of the city’s most capable firms in the corporate transactions arena. We are also pleased to have top local talent join our established litigation and patent practices.”

The new Fish & Richardson attorneys are longtime practitioners in Austin who are integrally involved in the city’s vibrant technology and venture capital industries. With the new additions, Fish & Richardson becomes one of the rare Austin law firms with the capability to represent technology companies from startup to patent portfolio management to protecting intellectual property to a liquidity event.

Joining the Corporate Group are Principals Edward A. Cavazos, Kinloch Gill III, and Steven M. Tyndall; Of Counsels Millicent M. Lundburg and Gavino Morin; and Associate Alfred M. Macdaniel Jr. Jennifer Williams Sloan, a Principal in the Corporate Group in Fish & Richardson’s Dallas office, is relocating to Austin.

Joining the Litigation Group are Principal J. Scott Denko and Associate Steven J. Lauff.

Founded in 1878, Fish & Richardson is focused on helping clients maximize the value of their ideas by providing legal counseling in the areas of intellectual property, litigation, and corporate law. The firm has over 400 attorneys and technology specialists in 10 offices nationwide. Fish & Richardson has a long history of representing the world’s leading technology innovators and entrepreneurs, including pioneering inventors such as Alexander Graham Bell, Thomas Edison, and the Wright Brothers.

The firm’s Austin office, which opened in 2005, continues that tradition, handling intellectual property, litigation, technology transactions, general corporate matters, labor and employment, private placements of securities (including venture capital financings), public offerings and public company compliance matters, and mergers and acquisitions.

Fish & Richardson is the premier intellectual property firm in the United States. The firm handles more patent litigation than any other law firm in the U.S. (IP Law & Business July 2006). It is also the top firm in patent cases at the International Trade Commission and rates among the top U.S. firms in patents and trademarks obtained. To serve the needs of start-up and emerging growth companies, the firm created a Venture & Technology Group that is a hybrid practice of corporate and technology law.
