BALTIMORE – Chambers & Partners recognized two partners in McGuireWoods’ Baltimore office as leading lawyers in the 2006 edition of Chambers USA: America’s Leading Business Lawyers. Chambers, which annually publishes a client guide to leading lawyers, interviewed clients and conducted independent peer reviews to highlight the top business law firms and attorneys in the United States.

Clients recognized employment lawyers in the firm’s Baltimore office, noting their experience with legal matters involving employment discrimination, wrongful discharge and covenants not to compete. Douglas M. Topolski, whose practice most recently involved contract negotiation and union avoidance, was noted as being “very in tune with the needs of sophisticated clients.”

The firm’s real estate team was also recognized by clients for its legal work in land use matters, and was cited for its “excellence in drafting and processing” and “listening to our requests and consistently keeping the deal moving forward.” Patrick M. Shelley, who represents national and regional retailers on financings and general real estate issues, was noted for his responsiveness to clients and ability “to take a complicated issue and reduce it to the core problem.”
