BALTIMORE – October 28, 2005 – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – Distinguished Baltimore attorney Pamela J. White has been named the 2005 recipient of the Charles H. Dorsey, Jr. Mentor Award.
Ms. White, chair of Ober|Kaler’s Employment & Labor practice, will be presented with the award by the Bar Association of Baltimore City at the group’s Past Presidents Luncheon on November 22. More than 150 guests are expected to attend the program.
Established in 1996 in honor of Charles H. Dorsey, Jr., long-time Executive Director of Baltimore’s Legal Aid Bureau, the award recognizes those attorneys who serve as mentors to other lawyers, demonstrate strong commitment to the legal community, and uphold the highest standards of professional conduct. Ms. White becomes the sixth attorney to be selected for the honor. The award is merit-based and is not presented annually.
Active in numerous professional and community organizations, Ms. White serves on the boards of the Baltimore and Maryland Bar Foundations. She is a past-president of the Maryland State Bar Association (2001-2002) and former chair of the Professionalism Committee, the Legal Education and Bar Admis-sions Section, and the Gender Equality Committee of the State Bar. She served on the “Ethics 2000” Committee, appointed by Chief Judge Robert Bell, to update the Maryland Rules of Professional Conduct. Ms. White regularly is invited to speak on subjects of lawyers’ professionalism.
A former president of the Women’s Bar Association of Maryland, Ms. White has received numerous awards and citations for professional service at the bar.
Ms. White worked closely with Charles H. Dorsey, Jr. while serving on the Maryland Board of Law Examiners between 1985 and 1994.
Ms. White served as a member of the Board of Trustees of Washington and Lee University (1995-2004), and has been honored as a Distinguished Alumna of Washington and Lee University where she received her J.D. in 1977, as Distinguished Alumna of Mary Washington College, (now, the University of Mary Washington), and honored with alumni elections to The Order of the Coif, Omicron Delta Kappa, and Phi Beta Kappa.
