BOSTON, July 31 LAWFUEL – Press Release Service — Goodwin Procter LLP, a top national law firm of 700 lawyers with leading practices in real estate and real estate capital markets, announced today the continuing expansion of its Los Angeles office with the addition of real estate senior associate, Douglas A. Praw, and public finance associate, Jung W. Han. Praw was formerly a senior associate in Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman’s real estate practice group. Han was associated with the Los Angeles office of bond counsel firm, Hawkins Delafield & Wood.
Douglas Praw’s practice involves advising clients on real estate transaction law matters, including purchase and sale deals, the negotiation and documentation of financial arrangements for office, industrial, retail and master-planned housing projects, negotiating land use, planning, governmental approvals and structuring and executing financial arrangements for development concerns, off-balance sheet land banking, and securing financing from public agencies for large scale infrastructure projects to serve new development. Among the numerous projects in which Praw participated was the repositioning of the Aliso Viejo Golf Course into a master-planned 227-acre development, which resulted in a new golf club house, a community events center, an aquatic center, and 502 residential units.
Praw has been recognized by Real Estate Southern California as one of only two lawyers included in list of the “Top 40 under 40” real estate professionals in California in 2006. Praw was also recognized by Los Angeles Magazine and Law & Politics this year as a Super Lawyer “Rising Star.” The Los Angeles Business Journal named Praw to its “Top 20 under 40” list of real estate professionals in 2006. Praw received his B.S. from Washington University in St. Louis and his J.D. from Southwestern University in Los Angeles.
“Having a person of the professional caliber and personal character of Douglas Praw join Goodwin Procter is the highest compliment any law firm could receive,” stated Los Angeles partner, Lew Feldman, who chairs the LA office. “The combination of Doug’s skill set, his undeniably impressive track record of serving as a trusted advisor to some of the most sophisticated real estate industry players, and Goodwin Procter’s depth and resources in real estate and real estate capital markets, will immediately enhance our goal of maintaining ‘best in class’ representation for our clients,” Feldman added. This year, BTI Consulting named Goodwin Procter to its “2006 Power Elite” list, which includes only 21 law firms recognized nationally as having the best client service in the legal industry.
Jung W. Han joins Goodwin Procter LLP as an associate in the Los Angeles office where he will continue advising underwriter and issuer clients in connection with public sector securities offerings and counsel real estate industry participants involved in the interplay between private real estate and public financing. Han has served as bond counsel, underwriter’s counsel and disclosure counsel on a broad range of tax-exempt municipal financings, including revenue bonds lease revenue obligations, tobacco settlement securitizations, general obligation bonds, and redevelopment tax increment debt obligations. Han will work with public finance partners Bruce J. Graham and Robert Haight, Jr. to serve the needs of Goodwin Procter’s development, public-private partnership and infrastructure financing clients. Han received his B.A. from the University of California, San Diego, graduating summa cum laude, and his J.D. from the University of Southern California Law School.
Feldman stated, “We are delighted to have Jung Han join our Public Finance team. He is a definite up-and-comer in the public finance/real estate space. His experience in structuring and documenting public offerings for numerous state and local agencies and investment banking firms will add further depth to our representation of public and private sector clients, which are involved in some of the most sophisticated public financing and real estate transactions in the country.”
