Clifford Chance lawyers donate 24,000 Euros to Children’s Village in the Dominican Republic

Lawyers of the international law firm Clifford Chance have donated 24,000 Euros raised through a nationwide charity campaign to the children’s charity “Unsere kleinen Brüder und Schwestern e.V.” (“Our little brothers and sisters”) based in Karlsruhe, Germany.

The children’s charity “Unsere kleinen Brüder und Schwestern e.V.” provides care to a total of 3,500 orphans and abandoned children in Mexico, Honduras, Haiti, Nicaragua, Guatemala, El Salvador, the Dominican Republic, Peru and Bolivia.

The associates, transaction lawyers and counsel of the Düsseldorf, Frankfurt am Main and Munich offices raised almost EUR 12,000, which partners pledged to double. The grand total of EUR 24,000 raised will go towards erecting a “bodega” for storage of building materials on the grounds of the Children’s Village “Santa Ana” in the Dominican Republic. Older children will be able to learn a trade in the adjacent workshop.

“Santa Ana” is currently home to 160 children. The orphanage was established in 2003 and consists of 15 houses, a primary school and a secondary school. Besides providing a permanent home, the goal of the Children’s Village is to provide children with schooling and to prepare them for an independent life. A further 17 family houses are planned to be built in the next few years, with a capacity to house up to 500 children.
