DALLAS – 1 February 2005 – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – Attorney James R. Nelson has joined the Dallas office of DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary US LLP as a partner, the law firm has announced.

Mr. Nelson will join the firm’s Litigation practice group.

“We are very excited to welcome Jim to the firm,” said Ann Hurwitz, managing partner of the Dallas office. “We respect his vast experience as a prosecutor and as a trial lawyer.

Ms. Hurwitz continued, “With the recent addition of an office in Austin, the firm is increasing its profile in Texas, and Jim’s strengths in litigation, particularly in the health care and antitrust areas, add a valuable resource for our clients.”

Mr. Nelson commented, “I am delighted to join the firm. I’m looking forward to new opportunities to serve my clients and the firm’s, both in Texas and across the U.S. and the world.”

Mr. Nelson is a well known and highly respected member of the Dallas Bar Association. He began his legal career with seven years of service as Assistant District Attorney for the influential Dallas County District Attorney Henry Wade—the last five of those years as a Chief Felony Prosecutor. In his subsequent private practice, Mr. Nelson has concentrated on representing clients in complex commercial, antitrust and health care litigation.

He is listed in Who’s Who in American Law and Who’s Who in Texas. He received his B.A. from Kansas Wesleyan University in 1977 and his J.D. from Southern Methodist University Law School in 1980. He is a Fellow of the Dallas Bar Foundation and serves on the Board of Trustees of Kansas Wesleyan University.

British MP George Galloway and his opponent the Daily Telegraph will leave no stone unturned to sort out what could be a spectacular libel case.
