Experienced Patent Litigator Joins Growing Patent Litigation Practice

(CHICAGO) July 11, 2006 – LAWFUEL – Law News Network – DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary US LLP announced that Thomas Pasternak has joined the firm’s Intellectual Property practice group as a partner. He joins DLA Piper from R.R. Donnelley & Sons where he served as vice president and chief patent counsel.

Pasternak has extensive experience representing clients in patent infringement litigation and trials, including rocket docket litigation, ITC litigation, patent prosecution, and licensing. He advises clients in various industries and technologies, including e-commerce, molecular diagnostics, mechanical and electrical devices and systems, printing technology, battery technology, automotive technology, pharmaceuticals, and consumer products.

Prior to joining R.R. Donnelley & Sons, Pasternak was a partner with Kirkland & Ellis. He is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and has also served as an adjunct professor of patent law at Loyola University and Valparaiso University.

Pasternak received a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy prior to serving on the U.S.S. Haddo, a nuclear submarine.
