The legal regulatory team is a key contributor to the Commerce Commission’s work under the Commerce, Electricity Industry Reform, Dairy Industry Restructuring and Telecommunications Acts.

This role offers you the opportunity to accelerate your career by engaging in challenging work in the energy sector of New Zealand’s regulatory regime. Your key focus will be to advise staff and Commissioners on the legal issues in electricity and gas regulation.

To be of value, and to enjoy this role you will ideally have skills and experience in the following areas:

* Advising in the energy sector and/or telecommunications
* Advising on regulatory and competition law issues
* Developed drafting skills
* A robust statutory interpretation approach
* Awareness of administrative law issues
* Knowledge and understanding of economic principles
