Pera, a partner with the Litigation Practice Group in the Memphis office of Adams and Reese, was appointed as Chairman of the American Bar Association (ABA) Standing Committee on Technology and Information Systems, having served three years as a member of the committee. This committee is responsible for the oversight of all internal technology and member-Association interaction through technology, including the ABA’s website. It is one of about 60 ABA standing committees and commissions.
Pera has a history of service to the ABA. He has been a member of its House of Delegates since 1990, with only a three-year break, and has served as one of two Young Lawyer Members-at-Large of the ABA Board of Governors from 1994-1997. During his final year on the Board, he became the only young lawyer to ever chair its Finance Committee and served on the ABA Executive Committee. In addition to his work with the ABA, Pera is also heavily involved in variety of national and local professional organizations including the Media Law Resource Center, the Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers, and the Memphis and Tennessee Bar Associations. He is also a Fellow in the American Law Institute, the Tennessee Bar Foundation and the American Bar Foundation.
Pera, a native of Memphis, practices primarily in the civil trial area, including a wide variety of commercial, media, intellectual property and personal injury litigation. He
is admitted to practice law in all state courts in Tennessee. He obtained his Juris Doctorate from Vanderbilt University School of Law in 1985, and graduated with honors from Princeton University in 1982.
