LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – London-based dispute resolution partner Ian Terry has taken over as global practice group leader of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer’s dispute resolution practice.

Ian replaces previous co-heads Josanne Rickard (London) and Rolf Trittmann (Frankfurt), effective 1 January 2006.

Guy Morton, joint senior partner, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer said, ‘Congratulations and very best wishes to Ian on his appointment and our thanks to Jo and Rolf for their service as joint practice group leaders since August 2000.

‘A great deal has been accomplished by the dispute resolution group over that period and its strengths and market reputation provide a solid basis upon which to build in the years ahead,’ he said.

Ian Terry specialises in commercial litigation and arbitration. He has broad experience covering commercial disputes in many business sectors and involving many different jurisdictions.

Ian’s recent public cases have included representing Flag Telecom in an appeal to the Privy Council concerning a dispute with former directors and representing Abbott Laboratories in a licensing dispute with Cambridge Antibody Technology. He is currently representing Apple Computers in its dispute with Apple Corps concerning the iTunes Music Store.

Ian has been a partner at Freshfields since 1986 and was managing partner of the firm between May 1996 and October 2001. He was educated at Keble College, Oxford.
