LAWFUEL – The Legal Newswire – Following the announcement of the launch of an associate office in Saudi Arabia last week, Denton Wilde Sapte has hired technology and telecoms expert Chris Appleby to head up its TMT practice in the Middle East.

Chris will co-ordinate the TMT work in the Middle East from the firm’s Dubai Internet City office, which is located alongside many of the key local and international businesses in telecoms and technology.

“Chris has first class TMT sector experience, and his leadership will concentrate the skills across our Middle East TMT practice, allowing us to capitalise on the huge opportunities in the region,” says TMT sector head John Worthy.

Chris joins Denton Wilde Sapte from Australian firm Clayton Utz, and has extensive experience in IT and Telecoms work, as well as IP and Competition. He worked in Linklaters’ Hong Kong office prior to joining Clayton Utz,

Dubai-based Telecoms partner Rod Kirwan moves back to London in August, and will continue to work alongside Chris on TMT matters in the Gulf.

Denton Wilde Sapte’s Middle Eastern network is made up of offices in Dubai, Dubai Internet City, Abu Dhabi, Cairo, Muscat and Oman and an associate office in Riyadh.
