LONDON – 1 February 2005 – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – Global legal services organisation, DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary (‘DLA Piper’) has advised First Investment Bank on its €200 million guaranteed bonds to be listed on the Luxembourg Stock Exchange. This is the first time a Bulgarian issuer (other than the sovereign) has listed on the international bonds market.

First Investment Bank, which is one of Bulgaria’s largest banks, is an existing client of DLA Piper. The deal closed on 1 February and was led by securitisation and capital markets partner Jeanne Bartlett.

Commenting on the deal Jeanne Barlett said: “This is a landmark deal for First Investment Bank and for the Bulgarian capital markets and it highlights DLA Piper’s successful focus on and expertise in bringing first time issuers in emerging markets to the international capital markets.”

British MP George Galloway and his opponent the Daily Telegraph will leave no stone unturned to sort out what could be a spectacular libel case.
