LONDON -LAWFUEL Press Release Service – Allen & Overy LLP today announced its litigation group’s collaboration with publisher Practical Law Company (PLC) in the launch of PLC’s new online Dispute Resolution Service. Allen & Overy has provided 32 of its market leading “Fountain Guides” (legal manuals) to the service. The deal, effective 19 May 2006, is an innovative approach to knowledge management as PLC editors will take responsibility for maintaining the online guides.
Outsourcing the know-how management function to an external provider is a highly efficient way to maintain and keep information up-to-date – a process which is of vital importance to both lawyers and their clients but which can be managed to a high standard by an external contractor.
The online solutions will provide PLC subscribers with access to the pooled practical expertise of Allen & Overy’s top dispute resolution lawyers and an email link will give them direct access to Allen & Overy for further information if required.
Joanna Page, Allen & Overy litigation partner and co-ordinator of the PLC collaboration project, commented : “This move makes good business sense; our lawyers will still have access to the most up to date know-how information and our PSLs will be able to focus 100% on what we do best – providing bespoke, high quality, solutions for our clients’ needs.”
Chris Millerchip, Chief Executive of PLC commented: “PLC is delighted that the Fountain Guides will be available to our subscribers and that Allen & Overy has outsourced their maintenance to us. This is a strong endorsement of the PLC approach to know-how – that firms can rely on us for first rate generic materials and focus their internal resources on client specific and proprietary know-how.”
