LOS ANGELES, March 10, 2006 –LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – Loeb & Loeb LLP announced today that Stuart Tobisman and Leah Bishop will join the firm as partners in the Los Angeles office effective March 31, 2006. Mr. Tobisman and Ms. Bishop, both preeminent, nationally recognized trusts and estates lawyers, are joining the firm from O’Melveny & Myers LLP, and will be bringing their entire team of five associates, four paralegals and other staff with them to Loeb & Loeb.

Stuart Tobisman has extensive experience in all aspects of estate and tax planning for individual clients and in the administration of estates and trusts. His clients include prominent individuals in industry, commerce, and entertainment, as well as individuals, banks, and trust companies acting in fiduciary capacities. Mr. Tobisman advises owners of closely held businesses in connection with estate and tax planning matters.
Mr. Tobisman is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and has lectured at the USC Institute on Federal Taxation, the UCLA/CEB Estate Planning Institute, California Continuing Education of the Bar (CEB), and the Practicing Law Institute program on estate and financial planning for owners of closely held businesses.
Mr. Tobisman has been named in The American Lawyer magazine’s “Best Lawyers in America” and as a Southern California Super Lawyer by Los Angeles magazine, and he is a lifetime member of the national Who’s Who registry.
He received his J.D. in 1969 from the University of California, Berkeley (Boalt Hall), where he was a member of the Order of the Coif and the California Law Review (1967-1969). He received his A.B. in 1966 from the University of California, Los Angeles (Phi Beta Kappa).
Leah Bishop focuses on estate and gift tax planning for high net worth individuals and closely held businesses and in the administration of estates and trusts. Ms. Bishop also has extensive experience in the areas of charitable giving and exempt organizations.
Leah’s estate planning experience includes all aspects of legal matters pertaining to high net worth individuals, including probate court procedures, living trusts, gift and insurance trusts, and sophisticated transfer tax techniques. Her charitable giving and exempt organizations representation involves all aspects of tax and corporate nonprofit law. Ms. Bishop represents many leading southern California private foundations, museums, and other public charities.
She is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and Vice President and Trustee of the Jewish Community Foundation. She lectures at UCLA and the Jewish Community Foundation on charitable giving and wealth management.
Ms. Bishop has received numerous awards and distinctions such as being included in The American Lawyer magazine’s Best Lawyers In America. She is also a lifetime member of the national Who’s Who registry and has been identified by Town & Country magazine as a “tax and estate planning partner par excellence” in an article entitled “The Touchiest Subject.” In 2002 she was nominated for The Los Angeles Business Journal’s “Women Who Make A Difference Award.” Most recently, Leah was named as a Southern California Super Lawyer by Los Angeles magazine.
Ms. Bishop clerked for the Honorable Edmund L. Palmieri, U.S. District Court, New York. She received her J.D. in 1979 from Columbia University where she was a member of the Columbia Law Review. She received her B.A. in 1975 from Brandeis University, summa cum laude (Phi Beta Kappa).
