New Hires Point to Growth in European Offices
WASHINGTON, Sept. 22 -LAWFUEL – The Law News Network — Crowell & Moring LLP is pleased to announce the addition of partners Paul Finlan and Gary Laitner, formerly with Pinsent Masons, to the firm’s London office. Finlan and Laitner will bolster
Crowell & Moring’s international Corporate Group through their work on
corporate finance transactions, including cross-border acquisitions and
disposals, joint ventures, and various other types of company and commercial
transactions. Finlan will become the office’s leader and focus on coordinating
efforts on behalf of the firm’s international client base.
The addition of the esteemed lawyers points to growth in the firm’s
European Offices. Crowell & Moring Chairman John A. Macleod said, “We are
continuing to recruit top lawyers in London and Brussels because our client
work presents an ever-increasing need for a deep bench of international
expertise. The addition of Paul and Gary, who bring significant international
and corporate experience, is an important part of our plan to expand the
firm’s European presence.”
Finlan and Laitner, who have worked together for more than a decade, bring
particular capabilities in the area of cross-border merger and acquisition
work. While with Pinsent Masons, Finlan co-headed the Infrastructure and
Construction market area and was responsible for the firm’s relationships in
the United States and Germany. He is also former managing partner of Garretts’
English regions, where he helped launch the Birmingham office with Laitner in
1995. He became a member of the Andersen Legal Garretts’ three-person
executive team and was a member of the firm’s European cross-border core team.
“Crowell & Moring has a think straight, talk straight ethos that appeals
to clients. And the firm’s proven ability to foster teamwork, even among
international offices, is a critical component to serving clients. It’s a firm
of closely knit lawyers who are passionate about practicing sophisticated law
and working together as a team, and I’m proud to be a part of it,” said
Finlan.
Laitner added, “An example of Crowell & Moring’s focus on teamwork is
found in how the Corporate Group has used the varied strengths of the firm to
better serve clients. More than 150 of the Corporate Group’s most recent
clients have worked with multiple practices within the firm.”
The London office regularly works with clients from other regions.
Examples of U.S. clients served by the London office include Curtiss-Wright
Corporation, Harris Corporation, Lockheed Martin Corporation, and Nortel
Networks Corp.
Laitner, who has recently been ranked as a top lawyer by industry guides
in Chamber’s 2005, Legal 500, and Legal Business, will focus on corporate
finance transactions for clients based in the United Kingdom, United States,
and Europe.
