New York, June 5, 2006 – LAWFUEL – Press Release Service – Debevoise & Plimpton LLP is pleased to announce that Alan Kartashkin, Pierre Maugüé and Matthew D. Saronson will become partners of the firm, effective July 1, 2006. Mr. Kartashkin is resident in the firm’s Moscow office, Mr. Maugüé is resident in the New York office, and Mr. Saronson is resident in the London office.

Alan Kartashkin is resident in the Moscow office and a member of the firm’s Corporate Department. He practices in the areas of equipment finance, mergers and acquisitions, and securities. Mr. Kartashkin joined Debevoise in 1996 and was based in the firm’s New York office until his move to the Moscow office in June 2001. He received a J.D. from Cornell Law School in 1996, and a Law Degree from the Moscow State Institute for International Relations in 1993.

Pierre Maugüé is resident in the New York office and a member of the firm’s Corporate Department. His work has involved a variety of financing transactions, including oil, gas, mining and energy projects in Asia and Latin America, and domestic and international structured finance transactions. Mr. Maugüé joined Debevoise in 1999 and was resident in the firm’s Hong Kong office until his move to the New York office in 2002. He received a Master in Comparative Jurisprudence from New York University School of Law in 1995. He earned his Magistere and DESS in Business and Tax Law from the University of Paris II-ASSAS in 1991.

Matthew D. Saronson is resident in the London office and a member of the firm’s Tax Department. His practice focuses on advising sponsors and investors on the tax aspects of international private equity funds and representing private equity firms and companies in connection with cross-border acquisitions, dispositions and financings. Mr. Saronson joined Debevoise in 1997 and was resident in the firm’s New York office before joining the London office in 2003. Mr. Saronson received a J.D. from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in 1997. He earned his B.A. from the University of Massachusetts (Amherst) in 1994.
