NEW YORK, May 24 – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network — Debevoise & Plimpton LLP is pleased to announce that Andrew J. Ceresney, Jeffrey S. Jacobson, Matthew E. Kaplan, Geoffrey Kittredge, Li Li, Maeve O’Connor and My Chi To will become partners
of the firm, effective July 1, 2005. Mr. Ceresney, Mr. Jacobson, Mr. Kaplan,
Ms. O’Connor and Ms. To are resident in the firm’s New York office, Mr.
Kittredge is resident in the London office and Ms. Li is resident in the
Shanghai office.
Andrew J. Ceresney is a member of Debevoise’s Litigation Department. His
practice focuses on white collar criminal and SEC investigations, complex
civil litigation and internal corporate investigations. He joined Debevoise
in 2003. Prior to joining Debevoise, Mr. Ceresney acted as a Deputy Chief
Appellate Attorney in the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern
District of New York. He served as Law Clerk to the Hon. Dennis Jacobs, U.S.
Court of Appeals, Second Circuit (1997-1998) and the Hon. Michael B. Mukasey,
Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York
(1996-1997). Mr. Ceresney received his J.D. in 1996 from Yale Law School
where he was Essays Editor of the Yale Law Journal. He obtained his B.A.,
summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from Columbia University in 1993.
Jeffrey S. Jacobson is a member of the firm’s Litigation Department. His
experience includes defense of consumer, securities and antitrust class
actions, complex commercial litigation and white collar criminal and SEC
investigations. Mr. Jacobson joined Debevoise in 1997. He received his J.D.
in 1996 from Columbia University School of Law where he was a Stone Scholar.
He obtained a master’s degree in Governmental Administration from the
University of Pennsylvania’s Fels Center of Government in 1993 and his B.A.,
cum laude, in American Politics from the University of Pennsylvania in 1992.
Matthew E. Kaplan is a member of the Securities Practice Group in the
firm’s Corporate Department. He has experience in the areas of securities
transactions, financing transactions and corporate governance, as well as
general corporate matters. Mr. Kaplan joined Debevoise in 1996 and was
resident in the firm’s New York office until his move to the London office in
July 1999. In August 2001, he returned to the New York office. Mr. Kaplan
received his J.D. in 1996 from Columbia University School of Law where he was
a Stone Scholar. He received his B.A. in History (with honors) and Classics
from Colgate University in 1993.
Geoffrey Kittredge, resident in the London office, is a member of the
Investment Management and Private Equity Practice Groups in the firm’s
Corporate Department. His work focuses on advising institutional and
independent sponsors of private equity investment funds in Europe and the
United States. Mr. Kittredge joined Debevoise’s New York office in 1996,
moved to the firm’s Paris office in 1999 and has been resident in the London
office since 2002. He received his J.D. in 1996 from New York University
where he was an editor of the Law Review. He obtained his M.B.A. in 1992 from
Columbia University in Finance and Business Economics and his B.A. in 1984
from the University of Virginia in Political Philosophy and English
Literature.
Li Li, resident in the Shanghai office, is a member of the firm’s
Corporate Department. In China, she has represented multinational companies,
Chinese companies and fund managers in a broad range of transactions,
including public offerings, private placements, mergers & acquisitions and
foreign direct investments in China. Ms. Li is the Chief Representative of
the firm’s Shanghai office. She joined Debevoise in 2002. Prior to joining
Debevoise, she was a partner at the New York office of Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw
Pittman LLP. Ms. Li received her J.D. from Columbia University School of Law
in 1991. She obtained her M.A. in Economics from Duke University in 1987 and
her B.A. in English from Capital Normal University in China in 1984.
Maeve O’Connor is a member of the firm’s Litigation Department. Her
practice focuses on a wide range of securities litigation, regulatory
investigations, complex commercial litigation and employment disputes. Ms.
O’Connor joined Debevoise in 1997. She served as Law Clerk to the Hon. H. Lee
Sarokin, Third Circuit (1995-1996). Ms. O’Connor earned her J.D. in 1995 from
Yale Law School where she was Senior Editor of the Yale Law Journal. She
obtained her B.A. in History and Literature, Phi Beta Kappa, magna cum laude,
from Harvard University in 1990.
My Chi To is a member of the Bankruptcy and Restructuring Practice Group
in the firm’s Corporate Department. She has experience in handling complex
restructurings and bankruptcies and acquisitions of troubled companies. Ms.
To joined Debevoise in 1998. She served as Law Clerk to the Hon. Claire
L’Heureux-Dube, Supreme Court of Canada (1995-1996). Ms. To received her LL.B
in 1995 and her LL.L in 1994 from the University of Ottawa. She obtained a
M.Phil. in Politics in 1998 from Oxford University where she was a Rhodes
Scholar.
