New York, NY (June 1, 2006) Heller Ehrman LLP today announced the addition of Blaine E. Templeman as a shareholder in the firm’s New York office. Mr. Templeman joins Heller Ehrman from the New York office of Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo P.C., where his practice focused on assisting clients with intellectual property development, biotech and technology licensing and collaborations; clinical trial documentation and management; and biotech technology mergers and acquisitions. Since the beginning of 2006, Heller Ehrman has added eight senior lawyers (including Mr. Templeman) to the firm’s New York office: Robert Buehler, former Chief of the Organized Crime & Terrorism Unit with the U.S. Attorney’s office for the Southern District of New York; Russell Reid, former Akin Gump bankruptcy partner; Henry Liu, former General Counsel and a Director-General at the China Securities Regulatory Commission; Kenneth Kirschner, James R. Hays and Jonathan Stoler, former chair and partners, respectively, of Kelley Drye’s Labor and Employment Practice Group; and Wesley Fredericks, Chair of the American Bar Association International Business Law Committee.
“We have a very strong and active life sciences practice nationally and over the last few years we have been steadily building our life sciences practice on the East Coast,” said Joseph T. McLaughlin, Chairman of Heller Ehrman’s New York office. “We also have one of the top IP practices in the country, so Blaine’s combined IP transaction and significant life sciences experience is an ideal fit for us. Heller Ehrman is focused on growing our New York and Washington, D.C. offices, and Blaine is a great addition to our corporate practice.”
