Sharon R. Klein, a business lawyer focusing on technology, health care and
life sciences issues, has rejoined the firm as a partner. In conjunction
with Ms. Klein’s return, the firm opened an office in Orange County,
California, to expand its business technology legal services. Ms. Klein is
the partner in charge of the new office.

Ms. Klein was a Pepper partner until July 2003, when she moved to Southern
California from Philadelphia for personal reasons. She has been a partner
with Stradling Yocca Carlson & Rauth in Newport Beach, Ca., for the past

Ms. Klein’s practice includes assisting domestic and international clients
in commercializing technology innovations; structuring all types of
corporate transactions, particularly for technology businesses; negotiating
agreements for the licensing, maintenance and support, and acquisition of
computer hardware, software, databases, telecommunications and networking;
completing outsourcing transactions; handling corporate restructuring,
confidentiality, information services and intellectual property matters; and
managing privacy and security issues, including HIPAA, CAN SPAM and EU Data

In addition to practicing with private law firms, Ms. Klein is a former
executive assistant to the executive management team and associate general
counsel of Shared Medical Systems Corporation, which is now Siemens Medical
Solutions Health Services Corporation.

Ms. Klein is an active member of HIMSS (Healthcare Information and
Management Systems Society) and writes and speaks frequently on issues such
as licensing, privacy security, confidentiality, telemedicine,
outcomes/disease management and managed care.

She is a graduate of Syracuse University (B.A., summa cum laude, 1975) and
Temple University School of Law (J.D. 1978), where she was executive editor
of the Temple Law Review. Following her graduation from law school, she was
a law clerk to the Honorable J. William Ditter, Jr. of the U.S. District
Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Ms. Klein is a member of
the California and Pennsylvania bars.
