(November 28, 2005, Washington, DC)— LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – Steptoe & Johnson LLP has added Scott Doyle, age 43, as a partner in its intellectual property (IP) practice in Washington, DC , effective immediately. Mr. Doyle comes from Morrison & Foerster LLP where he was a partner in that firm’s Northern Virginia office
In 2004, Mr. Doyle was named the region’s Intellectual Property “Young Gun” by the Washington Business Journal.

Mr. Doyle’s practice includes intellectual property litigation; such as patent litigation in federal courts and Section 337 litigation at the International Trade Commission. In addition, he regularly assists companies in developing IP strategies to enhance their competitive standing, including technology transfer and licensing, patent portfolio development and procurement, alliance development and licensing, acquisitions, and standards counseling. His practices covers diverse sectors including telecommunications systems, digital security, digital media and interactive television, computer hardware and software, and electronics.
Acknowledging his accomplishments, the Chambers USA: Guide to America’s Leading Business Lawyers recently listed him as a Leading Intellectual Property Lawyer.

Mr. Doyle earned his J.D. in 1993 from George Mason University and his LL.M in 1997 from George Washington University with Highest Honors. He also earned a Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering from George Washington University in 1988 from George Washington University and a Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech in 1984.
Prior to entering the legal profession, Mr. Doyle worked as an electrical engineer, helping to create next-generation military satellite and terrestrial broadcast communications systems, including waveform design, antenna analysis, and computer simulation of networks. From 2000 to 2003, Mr. Doyle was the Senior Vice President and Chief Intellectual Property Officer at Liberty Broadband Interactive Television, Inc., ACTV, Inc., and other Liberty Media companies, developing a broad portfolio of interactive and digital broadband technologies through mergers, acquisitions and strategic investments.
Including Mr. Doyle, Steptoe has more than 50 attorneys helping clients acquire, exploit, and enforce IP rights.
