Philadelphia, PA – January 14, 2005 – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – Pepper Hamilton LLP announced that William J. Brennan, IV, a litigator focusing on products liability matters, has rejoined the firm as a partner in the Health Effects Litigation Practice Group in the Philadelphia office.

Mr. Brennan was a partner with Pepper until February 2002, when he left to
join Buchanan Ingersoll, P.C. in Philadelphia. He was a shareholder with
Buchanan until earlier this month.

“Bill is a talented lawyer and will be an immediate asset to our health
effects litigation practice, which is as busy as it has ever been,” said
Robert E. Heideck, Pepper’s executive partner. “He’s a great person, as
well, and we’re delighted to welcome him back to Pepper.”

Mr. Brennan represents clients in matters related to commercial, antitrust,
construction, toxic tort, patent and environmental litigation, with a
particular emphasis on products liability litigation. His practice often
involves complex legal, scientific and technical issues.

Mr. Brennan’s civic activities include serving as a member of a three-person
board that oversees and considers requests from legal scholars for access to
case histories and papers of Justice William J. Brennan, Jr. collected and
maintained by the Library of Congress pursuant to a Deed of Gift. Mr.
Brennan is a grandson of Justice Brennan, who was an associate justice on
the United States Supreme Court for nearly 34 years, from 1956 until his
retirement in 1990.

Mr. Brennan earned his undergraduate and law degrees from Georgetown
University, receiving a B.A. in government in 1986, and a J.D. in 1991.
Before attending law school, he was a legislative assistant to U.S.
Representative Peter W. Rodino, where he handled a variety of issues,
including products liability and tort reform. Mr. Brennan is a member of
the Defense Research Institute. He is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania.

Pepper’s Health Effects Litigation Practice Group includes 50 lawyers who
provide prophylactic counseling to, and defend litigation for, clients in
the health effects area. They handle claims of adverse health effects from
ingestion of or exposure to pharmaceuticals, medical devices, radiation,
chemicals and environmental substances; claims relating to pharmaceutical
clinical trials; and claims of alleged personal injury from commercial and
consumer products. Pepper has been active in the defense of this kind of
litigation since the 1960s.
