PHILADELPHIA, Sept. 12 – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network — The law firm of Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP welcomes Robert P. Marcovitch as a partner in its Telecommunications Practice Group. Mr. Marcovitch joins the firm in Atlanta from Cingular Wireless LLC, where he served as a senior litigator, most recently with the
title of Chief Counsel – Appellate/Subpoena Compliance.

“We are delighted that such a well-rounded and seasoned litigator, with
significant telecommunications experience, has decided to join our practice,”
said Seamus C. Duffy, head of Drinker Biddle’s Telecommunications group.
“Bob’s background managing complex litigation on a national scale, along with
his deep knowledge of the wireless industry and his appellate expertise,
greatly benefits our firm in general and our practice in particular. His
considerable experience handling class action litigation complements our
already strong capabilities in that area.”

“I am excited to join Drinker Biddle and its national telecommunications
practice,” said Mr. Marcovitch. “During my career at Cingular, I had the
frequent opportunity to work closely with several Drinker lawyers, including
virtually everyone in the Telecommunications Practice Group, and I am pleased
to now join them as a colleague.”

Mr. Marcovitch will concentrate his practice on telecommunications
litigation, and he will also be involved in general civil and criminal
appellate litigation, an area of practice to which he has devoted a
significant amount of time while he was in the government – he was an
Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Appellate Division of the U.S. Attorney’s
Office in Atlanta from 1991-1997, in subsequent private practice, and most
recently in-house. He has played a leading role in virtually all aspects of
wireless carrier litigation, focusing largely on the defense of class actions.
In addition to crafting strategies to defeat class certification in several
matters, he has regularly litigated preemption issues under the Federal
Communications Act. He has considerable experience in lawful
telecommunications surveillance and subpoena compliance issues, and has worked
on regulatory and operational issues relating to the federal Communications
Assistance for Law Enforcement Act that is applicable to telecommunications
carriers.

Mr. Marcovitch received his B.A., summa cum laude, from Columbia
University in 1984 and his J.D., magna cum laude, from Harvard Law School in
1987. He is admitted to practice in Georgia; the Supreme Judicial Court of
Massachusetts; the Supreme Court of Georgia; the Georgia Court of Appeals;
U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Second, Fourth, Eleventh and Federal Circuits;
the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts; the U.S. District
Court for the Northern District of Georgia; and the U.S. Supreme Court.
