In just six months Ulrich Jüngst, managing partner of the German office, has established capability in corporate, employment, technology, media and telecommunication, PPP, real estate, commercial and litigation.

Herbert Palmberger said: “I know a number of insurance partners both in the UK and the US and know they are a first-class team. DLA Piper has an excellent reputation in the insurance industry and I am excited to be joining the Cologne office to help build the German practice.”

Nigel Knowles, Managing Partner, DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary UK LLP, said: “In September 2004, we set out to build a first-class, full-service practice in Germany and I am very pleased with the progress we have made in such a short span of time. Germany is one of the most important centres of the global insurance industry. Within that market, Herbert is a highly regarded and very well-connected insurance lawyer. With Herbert Palmberger, DLA Piper’s global insurance practice now has a first-rate presence in the German market.”

Ulrich Jüngst, Managing Partner of the German practice of DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary, added:

“Cologne is home to a number of important insurance companies in Germany and is often referred to as ‘Germany’s insurance capital’. Given the strength of DLA Piper’s global insurance practice, establishing an insurance practice in Cologne is certainly the right thing to do. With Herbert Palmberger joining us, we are confident that we will build one of Germany’s leading insurance practices.”

British MP George Galloway and his opponent the Daily Telegraph will leave no stone unturned to sort out what could be a spectacular libel case.
