San Francisco –28 April – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – Jones Day’s San Francisco office continues to expand its litigation capability with the newest arrival, Jason McDonell. Mr. McDonell was previously head of the litigation practice in Pillsbury Winthrop’s Silicon Valley office and was co-leader of the Firm’s Trade Secrets Practice Team. Over his 20-year career, his litigation and arbitration practice has focused on complex commercial cases, including cases involving mergers and acquisitions, software licensing, trade secrets, employee stock options, and corporate finance.

Mr. McDonell is the sixth seasoned lawyer to join Jones Day’s San Francisco office in the past 8 months. The firm now has nearly 70 lawyers in the Bay Area (Menlo Park and San Francisco.)

“We are pleased to welcome such an accomplished lawyer to Jones Day,” said Elwood Lui, Partner-in-Charge of the San Francisco office. “Jason’s extensive commercial litigation experience and recognized arbitration expertise brings added depth and breadth to our West Coast litigation practice.”

“I practiced law for years with Jason and feel very fortunate that he has decided to join us,” said Bob Mittelstaedt, a partner and veteran litigator in the firm’s San Francisco office. “He’s a consummate lawyer, and a great guy on top of it all.”

“I am excited about joining Jones Day,” commented Mr. McDonell. “It was an irresistible opportunity to rejoin many of my former colleagues, who I know to be unsurpassed in their legal skill, professionalism and commitment to their clients. The chance to contribute to Jones Day’s remarkable success in building a major presence in the Bay Area as a complement to its strength throughout the United States and internationally was a real drawing point for me. The breadth and depth of the talent Jones Day has already assembled in the Bay Area is truly extraordinary and the sky is the limit for what we can accomplish.”

Mr. McDonell earned a B.S. degree from the University of Arizona in 1978. He received his J.D. and graduated cum laude from the University of Wisconsin in 1982 and served as judicial clerk for Hon. Norman C. Roettger, Jr., former chief judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida.

Jones Day is an international law firm with 30 offices in centers of business and finance throughout the world. With more than 2,200 lawyers, including more than 400 in Europe and 175 in Asia, it ranks among the world’s largest law firms.

British MP George Galloway and his opponent the Daily Telegraph will leave no stone unturned to sort out what could be a spectacular libel case.
