San Francisco, CA July 7, 2004 – LAWFUEL – Heller Ehrman White & McAuliffe LLP today announced the addition of Sara Beth Brody as a shareholder in the firm’s San Francisco office. Ms. Brody joins Heller Ehrman from the former San Francisco office of Clifford Chance US LLP where her practice focused on defending issuers, officers, directors, underwriters and venture capital firms in shareholder class actions and derivative litigation.
“Sara’s specific areas of emphasis in securities litigation are of great interest to us, particularly with the recent expansion of our corporate practice through our merger with Venture Law Group,” said Jonathan P. Hayden, Office Managing Shareholder of Heller Ehrman’s San Francisco office. “She has deep expertise and experience in representing corporate clients and individual officers and directors in both litigation and litigation-related counseling matters, like governance and D & O insurance matters. Her addition will also enhance the issuer/director/officer side of our securities litigation practice and allow us to provide even better service to our clients. A number of us here at Heller Ehrman have known and worked with Sara for a number of years and we are very excited about her joining us.”
Ms. Brody obtained her B.A. from University of California – Berkeley and her J.D. from Emory University School of Law, where she was Managing Editor of the Emory Law Journal. Prior to joining Clifford Chance in 2002, Ms. Brody was a partner at Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison. Ms. Brody has represented companies and individuals in matters before the Securities and Exchange Commission and self-regulatory organizations such as the National Association of Securities Dealers, and she has extensive experience in conducting internal investigations and counseling clients on disclosure issues. She also has represented policyholders in various insurance coverage related disputes, with a focus on director’s and officer’s insurance.
“Heller Ehrman has a stellar reputation in securities litigation and I have been impressed with the firm’s growth, stability and success,” said Ms. Brody. “Over the years, I’ve worked with a number of Heller Ehrman attorneys and I’ve observed their abilities and high quality, strategic legal work. I also find Heller Ehrman’s commitment to teamwork and collegiality very appealing. The opportunity to work with a global network of highly respected attorneys in my specific practice area as well as complementary disciplines was important to me in my decision to join the firm.”
