Senior hire reinforces Latham’s position as a leader in financial products and across all tiers of the corporate capital structure

London, LAWFUEL – Press Release Service …Latham & Watkins is pleased to announce that Mark Nicolaides has joined the firm’s London office as a partner in the Finance Department. Nicolaides specializes in structured finance and has a diverse practice representing financial institutions and companies, with specific expertise in structuring and documenting conduits and structured investment vehicles, collateralized debt obligations and asset-backed securities backed by a wide variety of assets, including European multi-country trade receivables and auto loan and lease receivables. He has broad experience in the telecommunications and high-technology sectors.

In addition to his transactional practice, Nicolaides is considered one of the leading experts in the Basel II Accord regarding regulatory capital requirements for banks, and represented the European Securitization Forum in connection with its development and in connection with its implementation within the EU. As co-chair of the Legal, Regulatory and Capital Committee of the European Securitization Forum, he is also active in developing a securitization framework for the Solvency II Directive regarding regulatory capital requirements for insurance companies within the EU.

Nicolaides is a 1980 graduate of University of Virginia Law School. He has lived and practiced law in London since 1986 and was previously with the law firm of Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw LLP where he served as Head of the European securitization practice.
