At the Inaugural International Journal of Disclosure and Governance Conference entitled “SOX’s Fifth Birthday: A No Holds Barred Debate on the Good, the Bad and the Unresolved,” two of Steptoe’s securities lawyers, Don Meiers and Jeffrey McFadden, will be participants on several of the panel discussions with, among others, former SEC Chief Accountant Lynn Turner, and Paul Sharman, President and CEO of the Institute of Management Accountants. The conference will be themed around four important issues:
Has SOX helped or hurt U.S. business?
Has SOX Improved Audit Opinion Reliability?
Has SOX Improved Financial Statement Reliability?
Is the U.S. a Corporate Governance Global Leader or Have Regulators Lost Sight of Reality and Practicality?
