WASHINGTON, D.C., September 22, 2005 – Holland & Knight adds depth and experience to its customs and international trade regulatory practice with the addition of distinguished attorney Donald Zarin. He joins the firm’s International Business Practice as a partner in the Washington, D.C. office.
Zarin brings considerable experience in representing and counseling U.S. and foreign companies on a wide range of international trade and international commercial matters, including multilateral and bilateral trade agreements, anti-dumping duty proceedings and other trade remedy laws, customs matters, export control issues, U.S. anti-boycott laws, and trade legislative issues as well as overseas joint venture projects and international commercial agreements. He has represented foreign governments on trade policy matters, in treaty negotiations, and in the drafting of a Constitution.
In particular, Zarin is well known for his expertise on the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and anti-corruption practices. He has established compliance programs for U.S. and foreign companies, conducted numerous internal investigations around the world regarding potential corruption issues, issued numerous legal opinions for U.S. companies on FCPA and local law corruption issues, and conducted training programs for U.S. companies and their foreign affiliates.

Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Zarin served as partner and head of the International Trade Practice Group at Dechert LLP. He also served as a private sector representative in meetings with the OECD Secretariat and representatives from the United Kingdom and France regarding the OECD evaluation of U.S. implementation of the FCPA. He is a member of numerous associations, including the District of Columbia, New Jersey and American Bar Associations, the Court of International Trade, Committee on International Law, and Board of Directors of the Washington Foreign Law Society.
Zarin received his bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University in 1971, and his M.A. (International Affairs) and J.D. from George Washington University in 1975.
